Hi,
Is any forum software especially well suited for non-Latin languages? (E.g. Chinese, Japanese, Arabic.)
Is any such forum described here on ForumMatrix?
Or is it so, that e.g. phpBB and vBulletin and Nabble works fine with e.g. Chinese and Japanese and Arabic, and there is no need for specific forum software targetting Chinese/Japanese/Hindi/Arabic.
Kind regards,
Magnus

Haven't been here in awhile, but was stopping by to update our software listing, so figured I'd check the forums.
Most software can handle what you're looking for. For example, our software UBB.threads at http://www.ubbcentral.com has all of the text in language files. You can set a language encoding, for your case you'd want UTF-8, and then the language files can be translated and displayed in whatever language you want.

Hi Rick! Okay, thanks.
That's the encoding, but (I didn't think about this when I wrote the original post)
there are no special software tweaks for right-to-left or bottom-to-top languages ?
(Making some software better suited than other, for those languages)
(Or perhaps it's possible to change text direction via CSS,
so no software changes are required ? )
Kind regards,
Magnus

I'm not sure how other software handles it, but in UBB.threads when you create a language file you can specify a text direction of ltr or rtl. So, if you have multiple languages available, one might read from right to left, while the other could read left to right. No modifications to the software itself.

Interesting, I had no idea.
Seems to be a very good solution :-)
Thanks,
