NextBBS
nextBBS offers the features you have come to expect from professional forums software.
In addition it offers a mix of community building features borrowed from blogs, wikis and visual galleries.
It integrates natively with other community initiatives, such as global profiles.
In addition to its original modules, it relies on best-of-breed packages, such as Smarty templates, Adodb database abstraction, etc.
It also uses modern technologies, such as Ajax, but not for the sake of using these technologies, which is why their implementation makes sense to your users without being intrusive.

Areas List
This is a list of top-level categories and forums. Actually, categories and forums share the concept of 'Areas'.
Note that the default page could be one of the portal pages created in the Admin Control Panel rather than this one.
Gallery View
nextBBS offers to view the content of an area rather as a standard forum or as a gallery. In either case, when viewing a topic, it is possible to 'freeze' an arbitrary number of posts at the top of your user comments.
Multi Groups Management
Your users can apply to join multiple groups; groups owners decide to grant them membership at their discretion.
Control Panel: Skin Editor
You do not have to leave your Admin Control Panel to handle your skin files. Syntax highlighting and WYSIWYG editing are standard.
