Monkey Boards was intentionally planned to never have BBCode support. The author thinks that BBCode is pointless since it is essentially a pseudo markup language for (X)HTML. The main reason BBCode was invented is because the allowing of (X)HTML in message board posts meant that uses could inadvertently or intentionally break the code. Monkey Boards currently allows a limited subset of (X)HTML by default and has an advanced XML parser to help control what the user can/cannot input.
